Launch of Cyprus Egypt Greece Collaborative Innovation Network - COIN

CEG COIN (Cyprus, Egypt, Greece - Collaborative Innovation Network) was inaugurated during a conference on the 21st and 22nd of November at Borg El-Arab, Egypt. COIN will be operating in Egypt with branches in Cyprus and Greece.

A Memorandum of Cooperation was signed last July between the three countries concerning the coordination between the Ministry of Digital Policy, Telecommunications and Media of Greece, the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works of the Republic of Cyprus and the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology of Egypt.

The three parties are committed to mutually cooperate and develop in research, innovation and business opportunities for the benefit of both the public and the private sector.

In particular, COIN will act as a platform to strengthen cooperation, networking and interconnection of innovation and business ecosystems in the three Mediterranean countries. Its aim is to promote and strengthen digital skills, entrepreneurship, research and development, as well as the use of best practices in information and communication technologies.

The launch of COIN operations was announced at the fifth trilateral summit of the political leaders of Egypt - Cyprus - Greece, which took place on the 21st of November, in Nicosia. During the Cyprus – Egypt Business Forum on the 20th of November, the President of the Republic of Cyprus Mr. Nicos Anastasiades stated that: “Regarding investment activities, Cyprus, despite its small size, offers extremely comparative advantages as an important center of international entrepreneurship, but also as a basis from which can provide access to the regional as well as international market, particularly towards EU countries.”
