ISACA CSX: Cybersecurity Fundamentals Workshop

ISACA Cyprus is organising a two-day Cybersecurity fundamentals workshop. This will take in Pyla, Friday 12th & Saturday 13th of October at UCLAN Cyprus premises, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm.

Course Description

The Cybersecurity Fundamentals Course will provide participants with principles of data and technology that frame and define cybersecurity. Participants will gain insight into the importance of cybersecurity and the integral role of cybersecurity professionals. The course will explore foundational cybersecurity principles, security architecture, risk management, attacks, incidents, and emerging IT and IS technologies.

The course will cover the following areas:

An introduction to cybersecurity
Cybersecurity principles
Information security within lifecycle management
Risks and vulnerabilities
Incident response
Future implications and evolving technologies

Who should attend?
This course is ideal for participants with:

Zero to three years cyber security experience.
Audit, risk, compliance, information security, government and legal professionals with a familiarity of basic IT/IS concepts who:
are new to cybersecurity;
are interested in entering the field of cybersecurity;
need to understand the language and principles of cybersecurity and how it impacts their role;
are interested in obtaining the ISACA Cybersecurity Fundamentals Certificate;
Students and recent graduates interested in a cybersecurity career.

ISACA Cyprus Chapter members: € 100
Supporting chapters members: € 120
Non-Members: € 150 

NOTE: Participants should contact ISACA Cyprus Chapter in order to obtain their voucher code in order to be eligible for the corresponding discount. Each participant should provide an appropriate ID/verification of his/her status (University ID, ISACA Membership, Affiliate Chapter ID i.e. CCS, ISC2, IIA etc). The ID will only be maintained in our records for verification purposes and then permanently be revoked/destroyed.

Please note that for those that decide to also take CSX Cybersecurity Fundamentals Exam, the cost is not included in the above-quoted fee.

Participants will be eligible for 16 hours CPE Credits.

*Please note that a minimum number of participants is required for the workshop to take place. In addition, in order to ensure an interactive course, space has been limited to 30 participants. Please register as early as possible so that we can best measure interest and ensure your participation in the course.

This course is not designed to cover all knowledge areas that will be tested in the Cybersecurity Fundamentals Certificate Exam. Therefore, it is recommended that you understand the following concepts prior to taking the exam:

Security architecture principles and frameworks (i.e. SABSA, Zachman, TOGAF, etc.)
OSI model
General firewall features, types, issues, and platforms
Networking (i.e. ports, protocols, VPNs, etc.)
Application security
Risk Assessment
Business continuity plans (BCP)


Paschalis Pissarides, CISA, CISM, CRISC, CSXF

Paschalis has been certified by ISACA International to teach CSX Cybersecurity Fundamentals Workshop. He has been in the field of Information Security for over 20 years. Paschalis is a past President of the ISACA Cyprus Chapter and currently serves on its Board of Directors as the Academic Relations Director, and is an ISACA CyberSecurity Nexus Liaison for Cyprus. He has presented at past ISACA Cyprus Chapter events and has taught the CISA review course. Paschalis received an undergraduate degree in Management Information Systems & Accounting, an MBA in Finance, and a Master’s degree in Political Science from Bowling Green State University, Ohio USA.
