Anna Ridler used a machine learning algorithm to train 10,000 tulip images

Artist Anna Ridler used a machine-learning algorithm trained with 10,000 images of tulips to create a piece of video art called Mosaic Virus.

Ridler took the tulip images herself and animated the video using the prices of bitcoin between July and December in 2017 to symbolize the 17th-century tulip mania, during which prices for the flower rose and fell dramatically as people tried to acquire distinctively striped blooms affected by the Mosaic virus.
